Welcome to our very first official journal entry!
Today marks 10 years since the beginning of Feather + Oak! I thought I’d celebrate by finally starting a journal, with this first entry being a little walk down memory lane, and a little glimpse into the founder (me) and the story of how F+O came to be.
Hello! I’m Stace, and I’m so excited to share our very first blog post here at Feather + Oak. I live by the water in a beautiful coastal town in Queensland with my husband and four kids (though one has recently moved interstate). Our journey to this point has been full of unexpected turns, steady growth, and so much grace, and I’m truly so grateful to have you along for the journey.
Feather + Oak began 10 years ago today in a quiet, almost serendipitous way. When my youngest, Sylvie, was two, I found myself searching for a creative outlet during her naps. What started as a small hobby, making clay necklaces for myself and a few friends, quickly blossomed into a little business. I loved the process at first, but over time, I felt a shift. As much as I cherished the creativity, the repetitive nature of making jewellery no longer fulfilled me.

That’s when everything changed. I began designing linen pieces, starting with simple, beautiful 100% linen aprons. The response was incredible. I couldn’t find the kind of linen items I wanted for my own home, so I decided to create them. One of my next designs, extra-long linen throws, quickly became a favourite, and to this day, they remain one of our most-loved pieces. As the collection grew, I added throws, cushions, bags, and more. The shift from jewellery to homewares was gradual, but it felt so right. Eventually, I phased out jewellery entirely to focus on creating timeless linen pieces that bring warmth and beauty into your home.

Looking back, I know this journey didn’t begin randomly, it’s deeply rooted in my childhood. I grew up with a mum who loved all things DIY. She sewed, painted, knitted & created endlessly, and she passed that spirit on to me. She taught me how to sew and encouraged me to design things from scratch, never afraid to try, to make, to experiment. Feather + Oak is very much an extension of that upbringing: a love for thoughtful design, hands-on making, and creating things that are both beautiful and practical.
As the business grew, so did my passion for creating not just lovely things, but a healthy home, a space that reflects the values we live by. For a long time, I've been drawn to natural health, alternative wellness, and low-tox living. Our home is filled with clean, breathable textures, nourishing food, natural remedies, and products that support wellbeing. I believe a home should not only look beautiful, it should feel calm, grounding, and support the health of the people within it.
At the heart of it all is simple, intentional living. My relationship with God deeply shapes how I move through both life and business. I’ve learned to trust the quiet seasons and lean into what matters most. These days, that often looks like pottering around the house or garden with a toddler by my side, stirring something nourishing on the stove, and yes, squeezing it all in between cleaning up (again), tackling the never-ending laundry pile, grocery runs, work tasks, and making space for God, family time, exercise & rest. It’s not always serene, but it’s real, and I’m learning to find grace in the midst of the messy imperfections. I’m so grateful for the flexibility this business brings. It allows me to balance work with motherhood, to design at my own rhythm, and to slow down when needed. So if you ever notice I’ve been a little quiet, know I’m likely soaking in those sacred, slow moments before returning to reconnect with you.
This journey has never been about chasing big, shiny ambitions, it’s always been about following what feels true, creating from the heart, and living life in a way that honours simplicity, beauty, wellness, and faith. Feather + Oak is so much more than just a business, it’s a reflection of my story, my values, and my love for natural fibres, earthy tones, and homes filled with a beautiful sense of calm.
As I sit with the weight and wonder of this 10-year milestone, I’m overcome with gratitude. Feather + Oak wouldn’t be what it is today without you, our beautiful community. Every kind message, every order, every moment you’ve welcomed our pieces into your home has helped shape this journey. I’m endlessly thankful for your support, encouragement, and shared love for intentional living.
