Hello and welcome!
I’m Stace, found of Feather + Oak and I’m incredibly excited to share our very first journal entry here at Feather + Oak. A bit about me... I live by the water in a beautiful coastal town in Queensland with my husband and four kids (though one has recently moved interstate). Feather + Oak began nearly 10 years ago in a quiet, almost serendipitous way. When my youngest at the time, Sylvie, was two, I found myself searching for a creative outlet during her naps. What started as a small hobby, making clay necklaces & earrings for myself and a few friends, quickly blossomed into a bustling little business! I loved the process at first, but over time, I felt a shift. As much as I cherished the creativity, the repetitive nature of making jewellery no longer fulfilled me.
That’s when everything changed. I began designing linen pieces, starting with simple, beautiful 100% linen aprons. The response to these aprons was incredible & this gave me the confidence to continue in the direction of bringing linen items to my customers. When I couldn’t find the linen items I wanted for my own home, I would get to work creating them! One of my first designs, extra-long linen throws, quickly became a favourite, and to this day, they remain one of our most popular pieces. As my collection grew, I added more throws, cushions, bags, and even gorgeous little matching pieces for kids. This shift was gradual but felt so right. Eventually, I phased out the jewellery entirely and focused my energy on creating timeless linen homewares, pieces that bring warmth and beauty to your home.
I’m deeply grateful for the flexibility my business offers. It allows me to balance my work with family life, design at my own pace, and take time to simply breathe. Whether I’m baking, enjoying the seaside, tending to the garden, adventuring with my family, or just resting, I cherish the moments when I can slow down. So, if you ever notice I’ve been quiet for a little while, know that I’m embracing these slower moments before returning to reconnect with you.
Looking back on this journey, I’m reminded that it wasn’t about chasing grand ambitions. It was about following my passions at my own pace. Feather + Oak is so much more than just a business, it’s a reflection of my love for earthy linens, natural fibres, and a life lived simply and intentionally.
